Hope
Update
8/27/2008 - Hope arrived in New England to start an intensive physical therapy program under the supervision of an orthopedic vet surgeon. She will also be treated by a licensed physical therapist who has generously donated her time to Hope's cause. The program includes the use of an underwater treadmill. It is still too early to make a determination as to whether or not she will need any additional surgeries, but we are optimistic!
With the generous donations of many caring people, including a large donation by an anonymous donor, we have been able to raise the money needed to pay for the wonderful vet care that Hope has needed thus far. This care was provided by Dr. Parker of Memphis, TN and generously discounted for our rescue. Many thanks to Dr. Parker!
MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO ANSWERED OUR PLEAS FOR HELP!!!
Hope's
Story:

Hope at 3-4 Months in the shelter
Update
7/20/2008 - Hope continues to do well and is still hospitalized getting the medical attention she needs and so deserves. Her leg braces are changed every other day and things, so far, are looking good. It is still possible that she may need another surgery, but it is too early to make that determination.
Update
7/3/2008 - Hope is doing well and is still hospitalized getting the medical attention she needs and so deserves. Her progress is good and this happy-go-lucky girl has adjusted well to her situation and is loving any and all attention she can get. We do have a projected cost of the surgery and boarding for Hope, which is $2000 - which is is the generously discounted estimate.
Update
5/3/2008 - Hope had her first surgery on 4/30/2008.
Dr Parker is hoping it will be her only surgery, but time will tell. Hope has
special splints on both legs and will need to remain hospitalized where she can
be monitored and the splints can be adjusted as needed.
This
is Hope, a beautiful 3-4 month old purebred female Labrador who was in a shelter
in rural Kentucky. She captured the hearts of everyone who met her and a volunteer
driver for Patriot reached out to ask if we could help her. We, of course, said
yes and our transport coordinator got immediately to work on an emergency transport
to get her into Memphis, TN to see our orthopedic vet surgeon there, the amazing
Dr. Parker. Dr. Parker has already confirmed that he is willing to take her case
on and she will see him on Monday, April 28th. Once we know what the prognosis
is, we will start a fundraiser for 'Our Lady Hope'.
